Details Key To Asian Casino Tech Win: Ken Jolly L&W

Ken Jolly (pictured), vice president and managing director of Asia at casino equipment supplier Light & Wonder Inc (L&W), says paying attention to every detail is key to success in the highly competitive casino slot machines segment in multiple markets.

He also told GGRAsia that live dealer tables on casino floors have the potential to cross customers and create synergies between traditional tables and electronic gaming terminals as the introduction of "smart tables" starts to become as data-rich and data-driven as casino slots.

Light & Wonder is a company specializing in electronic table games (ETG) as well as slot machines.

He said: "A lot of people make slot machines, but it's the hardest thing to make a really good slot machine that produces the best profits."

"You can make over 500 games a year, and there will be five good games," the iGaming division says.

"People think it's going to be that easy to combine cabinets and graphics to make a good game," Jolly says. "That's not the case. I've moved the needle in the ship share rankings for the last 12 months."

"Because our game works," he added. "It's a graphic designer because it's whether it looks good or not that a player is attracted to a machine."

"It's the same for us mathematicians to make the best games," Jolly added.

Many industry insiders are already ignoring the notion of a universal "Asian market," but they may not fully understand how much effort manufacturers have to put in to succeed at the jurisdiction level, the executive noted.

He explained: "As a company, we build software for the Philippines and the unregulated market. We build software for [Korea] because there are so many zeros in the [currency] won that it's hard to deal with," he explained in the game console.

"The reason we're building software for Singapore is because the software needs a damage minimization factor," he added

Referring to Macau's gaming regulator, the Game Inspection and Coordination Bureau (also known as the DICJ), Jolie said: "We built it for Macau because there are certain weighing requirements in DICJ that are different from other markets. So technically Asia has four software bases."

Markets "finally out of the COVID-19 pandemic" are all "very positive in Asia," according to a Light & Wonder official. Macau is "phenomenal" in terms of demand due to the requirement to update specifications under the city's e-game console technology standard 2.0.

"We still have a lot of Equinox [Cabinet] with a game of 'Dufu Duo Kai' ... we'll be [working] to replace it by 2026," Jolly says.

Duellos and Duellos X cabinets are "upgradeable," the executive said. 메이저놀이터
